G.AL® Cast Plates in Engineering and Manufacturing

G.AL ® Cast Plates reduce production time and manufacturing costs in machinery, gauges, fixtures, tooling, and plant construction

The machinery, tooling, and toolmaking industries face many common challenges. G.AL® Cast Plates can help you eliminate many of them. They are lightweight, dimensionally stable, corrosion-resistant, and cost-effective. From conception and design to component production and final system assembly, G.AL® Cast Plates make manufacturing processes more efficient.

When you require dimensional stability and precision, G.AL® Cast Plates are your solution. Compared to traditional rolled aluminum plates, G.AL® Cast Plates offer numerous advantages:

Machinability

Distributor Icon

G.AL® Cast Plates are famous for their exceptional machinability. Whether you’re using G.AL® Sawn Plates, G.AL® Precision Plates, or G.AL® Specialty Plates, all products maintain dimensional stability when machined at over 90%.

G.AL® Plates are refined on both sides. We protect their exceptionally fine surface finish—less than 0.4 µm—with PVC film to prevent imperfections during transit.

Our most popular plate, G.AL® C250 (EN AW 5083), is praised for its versatility. It’s the best choice for many uses due to its corrosion and heat resistance and outstanding strength-to-weight ratio.

Depending on part complexity, G.AL® C250 can reduce machining time by over 40% compared to high-strength rolled plates—and by nearly 30% compared to lower-strength rolled plate types.

Tolerances

Tolerances

With thickness tolerances of ±0.004”, flatness tolerances of 0.005”, and excellent parallelism, G.AL® Precision Plates eliminate the need for time-consuming thickness machining. In contrast, achieving the required dimensions with rolled aluminum plates often involves multiple flips, rest periods, and extensive processing time. By skipping these steps, manufacturers save both time and money.

Warping, tool wear, and time-consuming machining are a thing of the past thanks to the continuous innovation behind G.AL® Precision Plates.

Minimal Core Strength Drop

isotropic

Unlike rolled or forged plates, we manufacture G.AL® Cast Plates without a directional grain structure, resulting in isotropic properties (meaning they perform consistently in all directions).

With a core strength drop of less than 10%, they keep uniform stress distribution throughout the cross-section. This significantly reduces tool wear and enhances machining efficiency.

By contrast, rolled plates can exhibit a strength drop of up to 40% from edge to center (depending on thickness), causing uneven tool loading and faster tool wear.

 A Competitive Edge

Using G.AL® Precision Plates provides a competitive advantage and a clear cost benefit. By streamlining multiple manufacturing steps, these semi-finished products improve output efficiency and shorten delivery times. Their isotropic properties, stress-relieved structure, and exceptional flatness help reduce the risk of producing defective parts.

Investing in G.AL® Precision Plates is a long-term commitment to future-ready performance—offering lasting value and consistent reliability for any project.
