Producing G.AL Aluminium Cast Plates

At GLEICH, our commitment to modernization and process improvement allows us to engineer G.AL® Aluminum Plates to meet the demands of any industry. We manufacture our plates to deliver unmatched quality and efficiency for any project. Our heat treatment is unique; we use electrically powered single-plate furnaces. Having on-site heat treatment processing gives us full control over heat distribution, ensuring each plate is uniform and homogenized. We are the only company in the world that heat treats aluminum cast plates this way, leading to a level of quality control competitors can’t match.

Our Production Process

We designed our process with a focus on precision, efficiency, and sustainability.

Below are the steps to transform raw material into the industry leading G.AL® Aluminum Cast Plates.

Heat Treatment

We partner with top-tier European suppliers to source the aluminum rolling plates used to create G.AL aluminum products. Once rolling slabs are received, they are sent to our fully automated heat treatment plant located on site, where temperature and duration are customized for each plate based on its alloy. This process improves the material’s mechanical properties and minimizes material distortion, giving our customers a more stable and reliable product from the start.  Our constant modernization efforts ensure energy-efficient methods are continuously updated to reduce material waste and optimize resource usage.

Unlike conventional aluminum rolled plates, our heat treatment process allows us to produce G.AL® Aluminum Cast Plates that offer low-stress, homogenous properties. No shaping or further processing is needed.

Band Saws

After heat treatment, the aluminum slabs are trimmed by our customized precision band saws. We provide a test plate from each batch to a third-party company for mechanical property and quality control testing. This process allows us to distribute material of the highest quality and issue a Factory Acceptance Test Batch Certificate 3.1. Once testing confirms the batch’s mechanical properties match our standards, we begin plate processing on our precision band saws. Here, trimmed slabs are sawn into individual plate thicknesses, measured, and ready for shipping. Every batch is traceable, tested, and certified—giving you confidence in the consistency and compliance of your materials. This process creates the G.AL® Sawn Plates  G.AL® C210R and G.AL® C330R

Milling

Sawn plates can be milled to produce G.AL® Precision Plates. Portal milling machines are used to refine the plate surface on both sides with a large cutter head (diameter > 7ft) in just two passes. Years of experience combined with the latest system technology make it possible to manufacture surfaces with high-precision thickness, roughness, flatness, and appearance. These products include G.AL® C250, G.AL® C250 ELOX PLUS, and G.AL® C330 plates (commonly known as aluminum cast tool and jig plates).

Quality Inspection

In the final quality check, milled plates are measured and tested again. We apply PVC film to approved plates for surface protection during transit. We exceed industry standards through rigorous testing and documentation at every stage of production to ensure consistent quality from our warehouse to yours.

Warehouse and logistics

The GLEICH warehouse system is optimized for fast and reliable handling, order processing, and delivery. Our investment in fully automated high-rack warehouses and modern handling technology allows us to streamline logistics processes, shortening production and lead times.

We warehouse U.S. material in Baltimore, MD, and Detroit, MI. These strategically located facilities allow us to serve our customers when and where they need us. With domestic inventory and streamlined logistics, we minimize lead times and guarantee reliable, timely delivery across North America.
